Katherine is Thriving

A Few Updates …

l.IFGPeENeOZXCOaXUHalloween this year was so sweet! As you can see by the picture, my injury was the central focus. I was a patient in a wheelchair with hospital gown on, Jay was a Doctor, and James was an X-Ray (skeleton pajamas). It was so fun! The only reason that I chose that costume was because it was just that: a costume! I do not have to sit in the wheelchair all the time anymore and I am no longer in the hospital, so it was a pretty funny tribute to the old days!

Last night we had a little party here, at the Jacobs house with some sweet friends from here in Pomona. The pastor of Pomona First Baptist Church and his wife even came. Debi Jacobs (the sweet host) said this was the ‘Katherine is Thriving’ party because we already had the ‘Katherine Lived’ party last April. It was so sweet and they even had my very favorite dessert: cupcakes for all! They also had little mini-sparkling ciders for all the guests to celebrate how far I have come. It was so sweet!!! We have been so blessed to be here. A special thanks to the Jacobs for hosting and organizing this!

I have almost finished writing another set of lessons I’ve been working on. I cannot find them on my computer right now, so I will hopefully post sometime next week!

If you look to the right, we have put our new P.O. Box in Culver City on CaringBridge. We also put a gmail email address that someone created for us shortly after my injury—just know that we may take a while to reply if you need to email us!

Thank you for your continued support of me. You are living out Galations 6:2. It is a blessing to me!

you certainly ARE thriving. it is amazing to see. it was so great seeing you at L&D’s party- I just wish we could have spoken for longer. one topic i would love for you to talk about would be: what the purpose of prayer is and if you think prayer can change God’s mind about something. i just know so many people who have lost children- both during pregnancy and after- and so many of them prayed for their children to make it…and God said no. Do you think God changes His mind as a result of prayer, or do you think prayer is our way of accepting God’s will for our lives? Or do you think prayer has a completely different purpose- like to rally people together during times of trouble and lifting them up? thinking of you…

    love,
    Erika

    Hi Katherine,
I do not know you, but we do have some friends in common. I have followed your blog and your mom’s ever since you injury. I have prayed for you many times. Your entries have helped me so many times for different reasons. You truly are a gift.

My point in writing you is that one of my brother’s friends was in an accident in Athens last week. He is a member of the UGA baseball team. He has no feeling from the waist down. He needs much encouragement right now and thought you would be the perfect person to let him know that he can do this and get through it with God’s help.

If you have a moment, check out his caring bridge site: chanceveazy is the search word with no spaces.

I will continue to keep you in my prayers.
Oh, your little boy is adorable!
    Blessings,

SO good to see you guys on Friday. You truly made my week! What an incredible and beautiful family you have Katherine, in every sense of the word. I always leave you inspired to have more joy in the Lord! And because our visits are so infrequent, every time I am BLOWN away by your progress. Trust me, from a doctor who has seen many traumatic brain injuries, you defy all statistics, all odds, all reliable medical prognostic indicators. God is SHINING through you and showing off His power… your speech is AMAZINGLY articulate, your strength and mobility is like that of a different person from even six months ago. Your progress may seem excruciatingly slow to you but trust me, your hard work is paying off in a huge way- you have come SOOOO far!! Hope you guys had a wonderful anniversary dinner and lets get a date for a Laker game after you guys return from Georgia! Love to you three! In Him, Kristin
